The British Seaside

Another side project. British Seaside towns are unique places. They have their own seasonal calendar and their economies are built on the tourist trade. In the off season, they can be forlorn and dismal and at their busiest in the summer, they can be loud, gaudy and brash, yet at other times, quiet and reflective.

The piers, the amusements arcades and the funfairs along seafront promenades often form the main event, but in the backstreets, you find the shops that only seaside towns have and the flea markets and antiques fairs designed to entice the tourist pound.

This photography project tries to capture the varied feelings and emotions of our British Seaside, from the colourful to the peaceful to the mundane! Hopefully this will stir your memories of days at the seaside.
